Deepthi Ann Thomas, BS-MS
Hailing from the Chungom locality alongside the Meenachil river in the Kottayam town of Kerala, Deepthi did her schooling majorly at the Indian School, in Bahrain. Enchanted by science, especially biology, she completed her Bachelor of Science-Master of Science (BS-MS) in Biology (with a minor in Chemistry) from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER-TVM) in 2021. During her master’s project at the Thakur Neurodegeneration lab at IISER-TVM, she worked on “Alpha-synuclein: Overexpression in E. coli, its Purification, Aggregation, and Characterization”. She was an INSPIRE scholar during her BS-MS and had cleared the Joint CSIR-UGC NET JRF with AIR 50 in 2020 January. For a brief while she worked as a Prime Minister’s Research fellow at IISER-TVM in the same lab. Presently, pursuing her childhood dreams of being a scientist, she has joined as a JRF in the Laboratory of Translational Neuroscience at the Yenepoya Research Center.
